Yet Another Performance Boost for Windows 11

Ever notice that tiny pause when you open something on your PC?

It might only take a fraction of a second longer than expected, but those little delays can become surprisingly frustrating over the course of a workday.

Microsoft is working to make Windows 11 performance better by focusing on something simple: making Windows feel faster and more responsive.

Making Windows 11 Faster and Smoother

Rather than constantly adding new features, Microsoft has been putting more attention into improving the core Windows experience.

A big part of that work involves WinUI, the framework Microsoft uses for many of the visual elements in Windows. File Explorer, menus, Settings, and other built-in apps rely on it.

Microsoft is now working on making WinUI itself more efficient. The idea is straightforward: if the foundation runs better, the things built on it should run better too.

Engineers have been using apps such as File Explorer and Notepad to test these improvements and reduce unnecessary background processing. Microsoft has also documented recent improvements designed to make File Explorer faster and more responsive.

The result should be faster launches and a more responsive experience.

Small Improvements Can Add Up

Don’t expect your computer to suddenly become twice as fast.

Instead, Microsoft is targeting the small delays you encounter throughout the day, opening folders, switching between windows, launching applications, and responding to commands. Recent Windows 11 updates have included specific performance improvements to File Explorer.

Each improvement may be barely noticeable on its own. But when you’re using your computer for eight hours a day, those little pauses can add up.

Microsoft is also working on low latency, which simply means reducing the time between an action and Windows responding to it.

It may not sound exciting, but you definitely notice when your computer feels responsive.

Is Your Business Computer Running Slowly?

Windows 11 performance improvements can help, but software isn’t always the reason a computer feels sluggish. Aging hardware, insufficient memory, storage issues, and other problems can also have an impact.
